Bio: Evan Carr is a Spartanburg native growing up in the Arcadia area and a first-generation college graduate. He attended University of South Carolina-Upstate where he earned his B.A. in Information Management & Systems and also graduated from Dorman High School. He is currently freelancing for small businesses and other clients specializing in Website support, graphic design, social media management, and video editing, and is involved in several community organizations. He currently resides in Pauline.
Hobbies: Evan enjoys being outdoors, whether going bicycle riding, hiking, or kayaking, trying to better himself at disc golf, swimming, or playing pick-up games of basketball, volleyball, or any racquet sport. He also enjoys cooking (ask him about his home fries), football (Clemson Tigers and Carolina Panthers), visiting new restaurants, watching new (or new-to-him) movies, taking random road trips, listening to different kinds of music, and photography.
Why SYP: He joined Spartanburg Young Professionals as he felt it was a great outlet for learning more about the local and regional business communities and finding common ground with other young professionals.
Why Spartanburg: He has several lifelong friends here and has made many new ones in recent years, and much of his family lives throughout the county or nearby in Western North Carolina. He has always found great potential in Spartanburg (the "crossroads" of the Carolinas), and is honored to watch it continue growing and developing into a place with an increasingly awesome quality of life and place. It doesn't hurt that the Upstate (Spartanburg included) has all four seasons, is one of the most gorgeous regions of South Carolina, and is very close to the mountains, other major cities, and not too far from the beaches either.
